Reid Elementary School

Kindergarten students begin the development of skills necessary for school success in a stimulating child-oriented learning environment.  All learning begins with hands-on, concrete experiences which carries on in the later grades as well.

First and Second Grade students learn critical skills important to school success.  Although the teachers follow the Utah State’s Core Curriculum, they are able to augment their units with many field experiences and the use of resource persons coming into the classrooms.

Third and Fourth Grade students apply the academic and behavioral skills developed in the early grades and continue to advance in learning.  Students develop and practice problem-solving skills throughout the curriculum.  Opportunities for first-hand study are found in the classrooms and labs as well as in their field experiences.  Grouping continues for instructional purposes in language arts and mathematics.

Fifth Grade continues the blend of basic and advanced classroom learning with individual and social growth.  Good citizenship and school services is emphasized as fifth graders prepare for the Middle School.  At fourth grade students can try out for the Shakespeare plays, so fifth grade students are competent and self-assured as they assume challenging roles.  Fifth graders demonstrate remarkable self-discipline and self-direction.
