Nationally-Recognized Demonstration Site for Three U.S. Department of Education Validated Programs

The Reid School is the first private school to be totally dedicated to the use of ECRI (Exemplary Center for Reading Instruction) instructional methods. These methods have been validated by a panel of evaluators at the U.S. Department of Education as being significantly superior to other reading and language arts programs throughout the United States. ECRI teaches teachers to use the ECRI teaching techniques which allow students to reach their full potential.

Reid School also utilizes a nationally-recognized computer usage, keyboarding, reading and spelling program. It teaches computer usage and keyboarding beginning in kindergarten. The computer program reinforces the students’ reading, spelling, visual memory, and language usage skills. Because of the effectiveness of the computer program, it has also been validated by the U.S. Department of Education. All students receive instruction in KRS in Computer Lab 1.

KRS: Keyboarding/Reading/Spelling
A third Reid School program that has been validated by the Program Effectiveness Panel of the U.S. Department of Education for national dissemination is Enriching a Child’s Literacy Environment (ECLE) program for parents and their six-month to three year old children. Parents are taught to develop large and small muscle coordination, oral language through sensory stimulation, print and number awareness, appreciation of literature, sensitivity to music, rhythm and basic concepts.
